International Character Support

Search Maker Pro can properly index pages containing "Basic Latin" and "Latin-1" type characters. These characters form the basis of many languages. Basic Latin ASCII characters such as A,B,c,d,1,2 are stored directly. Latin-1 characters are converted to be stored in a common searchable format.

Languages using the supported characters include:

Dutch
English
Finnish
French
German
Irish
Italian
Norwegian
Portuguese
Spanish
Swedish

Other languages (such as Faeroese and Icelandic) encoded using these characters will be indexed correctly. Languages not using these characters may still be indexed correctly.

For example the character ñ can be expressed in HTML in any of these 4 ways:

Search Maker Pro converts each encoded character to it’s "raw" format and stores the actual ASCII letter n in the index.

Therefore searched words will be found, no matter how they are encoded. For example if a user enters ñ in the search box then it will match n in the indexes.
